A Shropshire man sentenced to two years for attacking a police officer who lost sight in one eye.
A 26-year-old man from Shropshire, Jamie Henderson-Jones, was sentenced to two years in prison for violently assaulting police officer PC Jack Harper during an arrest attempt in July 2024.
The attack occurred after officers located Henderson-Jones’ uninsured vehicle, leading to a struggle in a stairwell where he pushed Harper, struck him multiple times—including a blow causing a fractured eye socket—and forced him through a window.
The officer, who also lost sight in one eye, was treated in hospital.
Henderson-Jones, who had previously been involved in a vehicle seizure, pleaded guilty to charges including grievous bodily harm and assault on an emergency worker.
West Mercia Police condemned the violence, emphasizing its threat to public safety and the importance of holding offenders accountable.
