Scope is closing 73 UK stores in 2025 to cut costs amid financial losses and shifting shopping habits.
Disability charity Scope is closing 73 of its 138 UK stores in 2025 as part of a restructuring to address a growing financial deficit, following six consecutive years of losses.
The closures, part of a plan to shut 77 stores by March 2026, aim to cut £4 million in annual costs and come amid rising expenses, declining reserves, and shifting consumer habits.
The charity has already closed 73 stores and reduced 54 jobs, saving an additional £1.9 million.
Some locations, including in Erdington, Birmingham, and Morden, closed in December 2025.
The move reflects broader challenges in the retail sector, including higher rents and a shift to online shopping.
Scope says it will continue supporting disabled people through remaining stores, helplines, and community programs.
