Quebec doctors approve new healthcare deal with 97% vote, ending dispute and boosting access.
Quebec family physicians have overwhelmingly approved a revised agreement with the provincial government, with 97.14% voting in favor, resolving a major dispute that threatened healthcare services.
The deal, which halts the implementation of controversial Bill 2, includes $434 million in additional funding through 2028, cancels punitive measures for unmet performance targets, and aims to connect 500,000 patients without a family doctor to care.
It also enhances compensation and reduces administrative burdens.
The agreement, supported by the Canadian Medical Association, marks a significant step toward stabilizing primary care, improving access in rural areas, and strengthening collaboration between doctors and the government.
The revised legislation is expected to pass by late February 2026.
