A pilot died when a plane crashed near Ireland after reporting fuel and electrical issues.
A pilot flying a Vulcanair P68C from Sligo to France reported low fuel pressure and a failed alternator minutes before crashing near Lisselan, County Waterford, on November 20.
The German-based instructor, en route to deliver the recently certified aircraft to Slovenia, declared an emergency and requested a direct approach to Waterford Airport.
Despite sighting the airfield and planning a normal landing, the plane entered a steep left bank, lost altitude rapidly, and crashed into a farm field seven seconds later.
The pilot died in the impact, with no fire.
Wreckage showed the left engine had separated, both propellers were bent, and fuel tanks ruptured.
Initial findings indicate the fuel pump and a spark plug were non-functional, though damage from the crash complicates determining their role in the accident.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit continues its review.
