Nonresidents pay 2 euros to enter Trevi Fountain area daily starting Feb. 1, 2026, to reduce crowds and fund preservation.
Starting Febonresidents will pay a 2-euro fee to access the area near Rome’s Trevi Fountain between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. to help manage crowds and fund preservation.
The fee, part of a broader effort to address overtourism, will generate an estimated 6.5 million euros annually and apply only during daylight hours, with free access to the surrounding piazza.
Roman residents are exempt.
Payment can be made online, on-site, or at tourist locations.
The measure follows a successful trial and a similar system at the Pantheon.
