No formal complaint filed after pilot allegedly assaulted passenger at Delhi Airport; airline suspended pilot, no charges filed.
Delhi Police confirmed no formal complaint has been filed in connection with an alleged assault on passenger Ankit Dewan by Air India Express pilot Captain Virender Sejwal at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1, with the incident coming to light only through social media.
Dewan claimed he was physically attacked after questioning staff for cutting the line while using a staff-only security checkpoint with his infant, alleging the pilot called him “uneducated” and pressured him to drop legal action.
Air India Express suspended the pilot, condemned the behavior, and said it is conducting an internal investigation.
The airline confirmed the pilot was traveling as a passenger, not on duty.
Authorities are reviewing the case, but no charges have been filed pending a formal complaint.
