New Hampshire AG clears Hill of ethics violations over absentee ballot email, but GOP plans impeachment inquiry.
New Hampshire Attorney General Molly Gray has cleared Democratic Executive Councilor Karen Liot Hill of allegations she engaged in electioneering by encouraging voters to challenge the state’s absentee ballot ID law via email.
The attorney general’s office found no violation of ethics rules, noting Hill’s messages were not commands and were not seen as such, though it cautioned against using government email for such purposes.
The lawsuit challenging the law was previously dismissed by a state judge, who ruled the ID requirements were reasonable and nondiscriminatory.
Despite the clearance, a Republican state lawmaker plans to introduce an impeachment inquiry into Hill next year, citing concerns over her conduct.
