Meghalaya mandated Khasi and Garo in early education, launched health and green initiatives, and reformed governance on December 20, 2025.

The Meghalaya Cabinet approved major reforms on December 20, 2025, including making Khasi and Garo mandatory in early education up to Class 1, with new textbooks to be compulsory from 2026. A ₹25 crore HIV/AIDS project, green building mandates, and a new cooperative society for agriculture were also approved. The state established the National Games Secretariat to organize the 39th National Games, appointed a former High Court chief justice to head the Human Rights Commission, and updated rules on teacher pay, remission, and excise fees.
