Emergency crews responded around noon to the 38300 block of North 6th Avenue, where a 52-year-old man attempted to rescue the two women but escaped with minor injuries. The older woman was pronounced dead at the scene; the younger woman was hospitalized in critical condition and later transferred to a burn center. The fire’s cause and origin remain under investigation.
