Christian Michel James, a British national in the Agusta Westland helicopter deal case, has been granted bail by a Delhi court but will remain in CBI custody.
He has served seven years in jail since his 2018 extradition, arguing he has completed the maximum sentence.
Though the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court previously granted him bail, he hasn’t paid the required Rs.
5 lakh bond or surrendered his passport.
The CBI opposes his release, citing flight risk, but James’ lawyers say he will cooperate with the trial.
The case, linked to a ₹3,600 crore deal and allegations of a ₹200 crore kickback and altered aircraft specs, remains under investigation.
The CBI must submit its response by December 22.
