Richmond and RRHA form joint group to oversee equitable Gilpin Court redevelopment with resident input.
The City of Richmond and the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority have formed a joint working group to oversee the redevelopment of Gilpin Court, following the RRHA Board’s approval of Mayor Danny Avula’s proposal.
The group, co-led by city and RRHA officials and including resident representatives, will guide housing plans, resident support, and implementation of the Jackson Ward Community Plan.
This move follows scrutiny over previous redevelopment plans and commitments to transparency, including a Tenant Bill of Rights.
The initiative reflects efforts to ensure equitable, resident-centered urban renewal in a historically significant neighborhood.
