Portland residents can name snowplows in a contest with entries due Jan. 5, 2026, and winners announced Feb. 2.
The Portland Bureau of Transportation has launched its second annual snowplow naming contest, inviting residents to submit creative, pun-filled names for five of the city’s 56 snowplows.
Submissions, which must be appropriate and free of offensive language, close on January 5, 2026.
PBOT will select a top 20 list by January 9, followed by ranked-choice voting from January 12 to January 21.
The winning names will be announced the week of February 2, 2026.
The contest, which drew over 4,000 entries and 16,000 votes last year, aims to engage the community and celebrate local culture.
