North Korean hackers stole a record $2.02 billion in cryptocurrency in 2025, according to Chainalysis, marking a significant rise from previous years and accounting for 76% of all global crypto service compromises.
The largest theft—$1.5 billion—came from a February breach of the Bybit exchange, facilitated by operatives embedded in its IT infrastructure.
