The U.S. Navy is investing $375 million in barracks improvements across 56 installations, including major upgrades at Naval Base Kitsap, Naval Support Facility Indian Head, Naval Air Station Oceana, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, and Naval Air Station Oceana Dam Neck, with the rest funding smaller projects at 50 bases.
The funding, from the One Big Beautiful Bill, supports the Navy’s “Sailors First” principle and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s Barracks Task Force.
Projects include repairs after fires, HVAC and plumbing upgrades, kitchen renovations, and new furniture, prioritized based on urgent living conditions following a spring inspection.
Vice Adm. Scott Gray emphasized the initiative reflects a sustained commitment to sailor well-being and operational readiness.
