Iraq and Iran seized 64 kg of drugs and arrested one suspect in a joint border operation.
Iraq and Iran conducted a joint anti-drug operation in Abadan, near their shared border, seizing 64 kilograms of narcotics and arresting one suspect, according to Iraq’s Interior Ministry.
The operation, led by Iraq’s General Directorate of Narcotics and Iran’s anti-narcotics authorities, was carried out under international agreements and highlights ongoing cross-border cooperation.
Iraqi officials emphasized the effectiveness of such efforts in disrupting drug networks linked to terrorism and regional instability.
Over the past three years, Iraq has dismantled 1,201 drug trafficking networks, including 171 international operations, and seized more than 14 tonnes of drugs.
