Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Oman’s highest civilian honor, the Order of Oman, during a visit to Muscat marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The recognition, conferred by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, highlighted deep historical ties rooted in centuries of maritime trade. During the visit, Modi signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Oman, aiming to boost trade, investment, and economic diversification into sectors like green energy, agri-tech, and artificial intelligence. The trip, the final leg of a three-nation tour that included Jordan and Ethiopia, underscored India’s expanding strategic and economic engagement in West Asia and Africa.
