Austin FC trades for Canadian winger Jayden Nelson, who helped Vancouver reach the MLS Cup final.
Austin FC has acquired Canadian winger Jayden Nelson from the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for $1.25 million in general allocation money and a 2026 first-round draft pick.
In return, Vancouver receives $700,000 in 2026, $550,000 in 2027, and a percentage of any future transfer or trade fees.
Nelson, 23, played a key role in Vancouver’s 2025 season, contributing three goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances, helping the team win the Canadian Championship and reach the MLS Cup final.
He previously played for Toronto FC and has represented Canada internationally, scoring two goals in 11 appearances.
Nelson will occupy senior and international roster spots with Austin FC as he aims for a 2026 FIFA World Cup roster spot.
