Afghan immigrant Sadaf Adel, 24, who fled Afghanistan in 2022 after the Taliban banned women’s education, has completed a top-10 statewide Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation at TAFE NSW in Maitland.
Originally studying diplomacy and Arabic literature in Kabul, she and her Hazara family resettled in Australia after living in Pakistan.
Balancing part-time work and English classes, she overcame language barriers with teacher support.
Now planning to start university through the University of Newcastle’s Open Foundations program, she aims to study law or pharmacy to advocate for women’s rights.
