UK regulators approve Greencore’s £1.2B takeover of Bakkavor, pending plant sale to ensure competition.
The UK Competition and Markets Authority has approved Greencore’s £1.2 billion takeover of Bakkavor, clearing the final regulatory hurdle.
The deal, expected to close on January 16, 2026, requires Greencore to sell its Bristol chilled soups and sauces plant to Compleat Food Group to address competition concerns.
The merged entity, with combined revenue of nearly £4 billion, will be led by Greencore shareholders, who will own 56%.
Bakkavor’s shares will be suspended on January 16 and delisted on January 19.
The divestiture ensures market competition remains strong, as the merged company would have significantly reduced rivals in the chilled sauces sector.
Los reguladores del Reino Unido aprueban la adquisición de Bakkavor por parte de Greencore por 1.200 millones de libras, en espera de la venta de la planta para garantizar la competencia.
