Pennsylvania introduces Aiden’s Law, a Purple Alert system for missing people with disabilities, after a nonverbal autistic boy died following a disappearance.

Pennsylvania State Representative Robert Leadbeter introduced House Bill 2102, Aiden’s Law, to create a Purple Alert system for missing individuals with cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities, following the death of six-year-old Aiden Ha, a nonverbal autistic boy who went missing and was found dead in October. The proposed system would enable rapid public and law enforcement notification, similar to Amber, Silver, and Green Alerts, to improve recovery chances. Backed by Aiden’s family, advocates, and bipartisan lawmakers, the bill aims to prevent future tragedies and, if passed, would make Pennsylvania one of several states with such a system.
