Indian Railways now prepares train charts 10 hours before departure, improving transparency for passengers.
Indian Railways has updated its reservation chart preparation schedule, requiring charts for daytime trains (5 a.m. to 2 p.m.) to be ready by 8 p.m. the previous day—10 hours before departure—earlier than the prior 9 p.m. deadline.
Trains departing after 2 p.m. and before 5 a.m. now have charts prepared at least 10 hours in advance, up from eight hours.
The change, effective immediately, aims to improve transparency, especially for passengers with waiting list tickets, by providing earlier confirmation of seat availability and reducing last-minute travel stress.
The update applies nationwide and is part of ongoing efforts to modernize booking procedures.
