Indian man arrested for running international organ trafficking ring involving Iran and Tajikistan.
The National Investigation Agency has uncovered an international organ trafficking network involving illegal kidney transplants in Iran and Tajikistan, with Madhu Jayakumar, a Kerala man, identified as the prime suspect.
Jayakumar, arrested in November 2025 at New Delhi airport, confessed to facilitating 27 transplants in Iran and identifying 11 donors, including two from Odisha sent to Tajikistan in 2025.
The NIA alleges donors were deceived with promises of high pay, then stranded and unpaid after their passports were seized.
The agency is tracing illicit funds converted into cryptocurrency and analyzing digital evidence, seeking extended custody to expand the investigation into additional suspects and financial links.
