A fire in an illegal, unsafe footwear warehouse in Ajmer killed one and prompted legal action.

A fire broke out overnight in a three-storey footwear godown in Kishangarh, Ajmer, likely due to a short-circuit, spreading rapidly through the building. Around 13 fire vehicles responded, bringing the blaze under control after several hours. Officials confirmed the godown was illegally located in a narrow residential lane, lacked fire safety clearance, and had no proper equipment, calling the setup a criminal violation. Legal action is expected. In separate incidents, a fire at a chemical factory in Surat remains under investigation, and a fire at an LIC office in Madurai resulted in one death.
