Assange seeks to block $1M Nobel funds to Machado, claiming her pro-U.S. stance violates peace principles.
Julian Assange has filed a legal complaint in Sweden seeking to block the release of over $1 million in Nobel Peace Prize funds to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, arguing her support for U.S. military and economic actions against Venezuela violates the prize’s founding principles of peace and international fraternity.
The complaint, shared by WikiLeaks, accuses the Nobel Foundation and its leaders of misappropriation and facilitating war crimes, claiming the award has become an instrument of war.
Assange urges Swedish authorities to freeze the funds, demand the medal’s return, and investigate, warning the money could indirectly support war crimes.
Machado, who arrived in Norway on December 11 after travel delays, attended official events in Oslo despite missing the original ceremony.
The Nobel Foundation has not responded.
