X Corp sued Virginia startup Operation Bluebird over its attempt to reclaim the "Twitter" trademark, claiming the brand remains active and widely recognized.
X Corp, formerly Twitter, has sued Virginia startup Operation Bluebird over its attempt to cancel X Corp’s federal trademarks for "Twitter," arguing the brand remains active and widely recognized despite the rebrand to X. X Corp claims Bluebird’s bid to revive "Twitter" under a new platform, twitter.new, misleads consumers and infringes on its intellectual property.
Bluebird contends the mark was abandoned after X Corp stopped using it, removed the bird logo, redirected twitter.com to x.com, and ceased trademark filings.
The lawsuit, filed in Delaware federal court on December 16, 2025, seeks to block Bluebird’s trademark application and invalidate its cancellation petition, asserting ongoing public use of the Twitter name and brand.
