flag A New Zealand man, already jailed for raping a 16-year-old, will face High Court sentencing for targeting young girls via Snapchat using a fake identity, including recording and sharing abuse with an 11-year-old.

Raveen Saily, a Tauranga man, has been ordered to face High Court sentencing for severe sexual offenses committed against young girls he targeted via Snapchat using a false identity. Already serving a nine-year, two-month sentence for raping a 16-year-old, he pleaded guilty to additional charges including grooming, sexual violation, and distributing explicit material to a 13-year-old and an 11-year-old. While on bail, he recorded and shared a video of the assault on the 13-year-old with the younger girl. Police were alerted after a traffic stop and a parent discovered messages. Judge Andree Wiltens said preventive detention—life supervision with potential recall—may be warranted, though only the High Court can impose it. Saily was remanded in custody and will appear in February for sentencing.
