Illinois extends health insurance enrollment to Dec. 31 for Jan. 1 coverage, due to federal subsidy uncertainty.
Illinois has extended its health insurance open enrollment deadline to December 31 for coverage starting January 1, 2026, and to January 15 for February 1 coverage, marking the first year of its standalone state marketplace.
The extension, enabled by greater state control, aims to help residents enroll amid uncertainty over expiring federal subsidies that have lowered premiums since 2021.
Free assistance is available via phone or the customer assistance center.
Meanwhile, Medicare Part B premiums are set to rise 9.7% to $202.90 monthly, with deductibles also increasing.
