Glasgow's subway will go driverless by late 2026 after a major modernisation project.
Glasgow’s subway is set to begin driverless operations between July and September 2026, following a major modernisation project led by the ANSTA joint venture.
New trains, a modern signalling system, a central control centre, and platform screen doors are being installed, with the new trains already in service and capable of unattended operation.
While delays have occurred, the project remains on track, with the final integration phase underway.
Some staff may still be present after the transition, and the upgrade marks the most significant change in 45 years.
