The award, presented by the National Science Foundation, recognizes her open-source platform that connects users with licensed therapists via low-bandwidth video and text chat, designed specifically for rural and low-income areas.
Burnett’s initiative has already served over 200,000 users across 12 states since its launch in early 2024.
She plans to expand the program to include multilingual support and integrate with public health systems.
