Dr. Mark Chavez, 55, was sentenced to eight months of home confinement and three years of supervised release for his role in supplying ketamine to actor Matthew Perry before Perry’s 2023 overdose death.
Chavez admitted to obtaining the drug through false pretenses and transferring 22 vials and nine lozenges to Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who was previously sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
Chavez cooperated with investigators, surrendered his medical license, and expressed remorse.
Perry, who used ketamine legally for depression, sought larger amounts after his regular doctor refused.
The judge emphasized consistent sentencing across the five defendants in the case, with three others yet to be sentenced.
