A Singaporean woman was fined $10,000 for giving gin to a man after his drunk driving crash.
A 27-year-old Singaporean woman, Claire Sng Wei Ying, was fined $10,000 for obstructing justice after providing gin to a man who crashed his car following alcohol consumption.
The incident occurred on April 14, 2024, when Samuel Gomes-Lim Jia’En, 35, asked her to retrieve alcohol from his apartment after the crash.
She returned with a gym shaker bottle filled with gin, which he consumed nearly entirely.
Gomes-Lim admitted to drinking and later tested at 73 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath—more than double Singapore’s legal limit.
Sng, who had no prior record and showed remorse, avoided jail.
Her case concluded with a fine, while Gomes-Lim’s remains under review.
