Sgt.
Erik Levasseur, a Port St. Lucie police officer, has been transferred to a confidential rehabilitation facility after being shot twice in the face on December 1 while responding to a domestic disturbance call.
The incident, which occurred in the Town Park community of Tradition, involved suspect Frankie Salvatore Riccio, 32, who was shot and killed.
Levasseur underwent multiple surgeries at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, including procedures to remove bullet fragments and repair facial injuries.
Though he currently has no vision due to severe eye trauma, he is awake, alert, and stable, with doctors hopeful for improvement through future reconstructive and eye surgeries.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department confirmed the transfer on December 15, 2025, citing his ongoing recovery and progress.
