Dustin Smith, 33, was shot by Maine deputies during a high-speed chase across Chelsea, Windsor, and Augusta after allegedly evading arrest while wanted on multiple felony warrants. Authorities say Smith fired at officers during the pursuit and pointed a gun at deputies before being subdued, sustaining a non-life-threatening graze. He was treated at Maine General Hospital and jailed, along with 29-year-old Kierra Stoddard, who was arrested for resisting arrest. Both deputies involved were placed on administrative leave, and the Maine Attorney General’s Office is investigating the use of force.
