JBS to close Riverside beef plant in Feb. 2026, cutting 374 jobs as part of operational shift.
JBS will permanently close its Swift Beef Company plant in Riverside, California, on February 2, 2026, eliminating 374 jobs, according to state records.
The closure, part of a strategic shift to streamline operations and optimize case-ready beef production, is not directly tied to cattle supply shortages, despite rising beef prices from drought and halted Mexican cattle imports.
The facility, which prepares beef for retail but does not slaughter cattle, will transfer production to other JBS plants, with affected workers offered relocation or severance.
The move follows similar closures by rival Tyson Foods.
