iRobot filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Dec. 15, 2025, to restructure under Chinese owner Picea Robotics, which will take it private and eliminate debt.
iRobot, maker of the Roomba vacuum, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on December 15, 2025, as part of a plan to restructure under new ownership by Chinese manufacturer Picea Robotics, which will acquire the company, eliminate its debt, and take it private.
The move follows financial strain from intense competition, a 46% U.S. tariff on Vietnamese-made products, and a failed Amazon acquisition.
Despite a recent revenue drop and a 70% stock plunge, iRobot said operations, apps, customer support, and supply chains will continue uninterrupted.
The prepackaged bankruptcy is expected to conclude by February 2026.
