India launched its first homebuilt diving support ship, boosting naval capabilities and 'Make in India' goals.
India has commissioned its first indigenously built diving support ship, DSC A20, at the Kochi naval base, enhancing underwater operations in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
Built by Titagarh Rail Systems in Kolkata, the vessel features advanced diving systems, underwater monitoring, and a two-man recompression chamber.
The commissioning supports India’s 'Make in India' initiative and naval expansion goals, aiming for 200+ ships and submarines by 2035, with a target of 230 by 2037.
The Navy also recently commissioned the INS Mahe and signed a submarine maintenance pact with Brazil, while 54 vessels are under construction, expected to be operational by 2030.
