India appoints MS Patiyal as its next ambassador to Timor Leste to strengthen bilateral ties.
MS Patiyal, a 2007 batch Indian Foreign Service officer currently posted in Tunis, has been appointed India’s next ambassador to Timor Leste, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
The appointment marks a key step in strengthening bilateral ties, with India opening a resident embassy in Dili in September 2024 and Timor Leste establishing its mission in New Delhi the following month.
The two nations share strong diplomatic relations rooted in mutual support for democracy and diversity, with Timor Leste backing India’s UN Security Council ambitions and co-sponsoring the Yoga resolution.
Cooperation spans health, development, and multilateral initiatives through the India-UN and IBSA funds.
