A Hong Kong museum opens the first Asian exhibition of artist Zao Wou-Ki’s prints, showcasing over 200 works and his artistic evolution.
An exhibition of Franco-Chinese artist Zao Wou-Ki’s print work opened in Hong Kong at the M+ museum, marking the first display of his prints in Asia.
Featuring over 200 pieces and bibliographic materials donated by his widow, the show traces his artistic evolution from early calligraphy-influenced works to abstract pieces inspired by nature.
It includes experimental prints made with French poets Henri Michaux and René Char.
Born in 1920, Zao studied in Hangzhou, moved to Paris in 1948, and taught in Hong Kong in 1958, where his fusion of Eastern and Western styles left a lasting cultural impact.
He died in 2013.
