Around 240 vulnerable and homeless individuals in Newcastle attended Soul Hub’s annual Christmas lunch at NEX, hosted with 60 volunteers and support from local businesses and organizations. The event offered a festive meal, live music, gifts, and holiday hampers, providing a rare sense of connection and belonging during a challenging time of year. Longtime volunteers and attendees, including Susie Stephens and Barbara Siu, shared joyful reunions, while Soul Hub’s general manager emphasized the event’s role in reducing isolation. Support came from NEX, The Wests Group, Newcastle Limousines, Port Waratah Coal Services, Kiwanis, Share the Dignity, and Life Church Newcastle, highlighting community-driven efforts to foster dignity and inclusion.
