A British Columbia man, Daniel Gazzola, has been fined $50,000 and banned from hunting for 10 years after pleading guilty to five Wildlife Act violations, including killing a mountain goat with her young outside open season, discharging a firearm near homes, exceeding hunting quotas, and providing false records.
He must also submit an apology letter and is barred from obtaining a licence or purchasing hunting gear.
The fines, $10,000 each, were largely directed to the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
Gazzola was one of four individuals charged; another received a $7,000 fine and three-year ban for sharing a licence, while a third was fined $7,000 for falsifying records.
The fourth suspect is set for trial in June 2026.
