Bergen Reilly, Nebraska’s top setter, is a finalist for national player of the year after leading the Huskers to a 33-1 record and a perfect Big Ten season, despite losing in the NCAA regional final.
Nebraska junior setter Bergen Reilly is one of four finalists for the AVCA Division I Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year, after leading the Huskers to a 33-1 record and a perfect 20-0 Big Ten season. She set a school record with a .351 team hitting percentage—the best in the nation—and helped Nebraska achieve a .400 or better hitting percentage nine times. Reilly earned Big Ten Player of the Year and Setter of the Year honors, averaged 10.47 assists per set, and ranks third in school history in career assists. Despite her success, Nebraska lost 3-2 to Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament regional final, ending a 33-game winning streak and preventing a Final Four return for the first time since 2002. The award will be announced Friday in Kansas City.
