A Bathurst man was sentenced to nine months in prison for breaching an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order by sleeping in the bed of a woman he was barred from contacting, despite an active arrest warrant.
Police found him at her Eglinton home on October 1, 2025, after a tip, and he admitted to knowing he was violating the order.
This follows a June 2024 conviction for assaulting the same woman, causing a significant bruise in front of children.
Originally on a community correction order, he was re-sentenced on November 19, 2025.
Though his solicitor noted remorse and mental health treatment, the court emphasized deterrence.
Magistrate Gemma Slack-Smith imposed a nine-month sentence with a six-month non-parole period, making him eligible for release on March 31, 2026.
