Twelve-year-old Naina Patel from Sarnia won second place in an international coding contest with her Scratch game, Solar Energy Rescue.
Twelve-year-old Naina Patel from Sarnia placed second in the 12 and under category of the international Fiero Code Light Quest coding competition, earning a Bluetooth speaker.
She created a Scratch-based game, Solar Energy Rescue, where players guide a robot through a maze to restore power to a fictional planet.
Patel spent about two months developing the game through the Lambton County Library’s free access to the Fiero Code platform, marking the best result yet for a participant from the region.
The competition drew over 150 entries from Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and Thailand.
