Tibetan exiles in New Delhi urged global support for Tibet’s sovereignty and human rights, calling for dialogue and accountability.
Members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, led by Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, held advocacy meetings in New Delhi during India’s winter parliamentary session, urging Indian and international support for Tibet’s status as an occupied region with a sovereign history.
The delegation met with Indian lawmakers and civil society leaders across multiple states, calling for unconditional dialogue between China and Tibetan representatives, including those linked to the Dalai Lama.
They requested UNFCCC scientific assessments of Tibet’s environmental impact from resource exploitation, unrestricted access for human rights monitors and UN Special Rapporteurs, and global legislative efforts to counter China’s disinformation and authoritarian influence.
The Central Tibetan Administration stated these actions are part of a broader campaign to challenge Beijing’s governance of Tibet.
