Supreme Court grants interim bail to Gujarat journalist Mahesh Langa in money laundering case with strict conditions.
The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Gujarat journalist Mahesh Langa in a money laundering case tied to alleged financial fraud, imposing strict conditions including a ban on publishing articles about the case and requiring daily trial hearings.
The court, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, directed the special trial court to proceed without adjournments and scheduled a January 6 hearing for the Enforcement Directorate to submit a compliance report.
Langa, arrested in October 2024 over a GST fraud and again in February 2025, had previously been denied bail by the Gujarat High Court.
The ED opposed the bail, calling the alleged offense serious, while Langa’s lawyer argued against prolonged detention.
Charges remain unframed, and nine witnesses are listed.
