A new adult ADHD service opens in 2026 in County Mayo, funded by €5M, serving western Ireland.
A new specialist adult ADHD service will open in late 2026 at Castlebar Primary Care Centre, serving Mayo, Galway, and Roscommon as a regional hub.
The service, part of Ireland’s national ADHD programme launched in 2021, will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team including a psychiatrist, psychologist, occupational therapist, mental health nurse, and administrator.
Recruitment is underway, following over €5 million in funding and full national coverage secured in Budget 2025.
The initiative marks the first dedicated adult ADHD care in the West of Ireland, advancing mental health infrastructure and addressing long-standing gaps in public services.
