Liberia dedicated a women's recovery lodge with support from Leymah Gbowee, who pledged $40,000 for drug-free graduates.
The Leymah & Nyoblee Recovery Lodge, an annex to Liberia’s Center for Rehabilitation and Reinterpretation in Paynesville, was dedicated on December 12, 2025, with support from Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee, who pledged an additional $40,000 if graduates remain drug-free.
Funded partly by a $10,000 grant from Gbowee’s foundation, the facility offers rehabilitation, skill training, and digital literacy via 12 laptops.
Twenty-nine women have been in training, with graduation expected soon.
Senator Abraham Darius Dillon and other officials praised the initiative as a step toward empowering women and reducing recidivism.
