An Garda Síochána's Christmas road safety operation, running from December 1 to January 5, has resulted in over 3,265 speeding violations, 147 DUI arrests, and more than 600 vehicle seizures across Ireland.
Notable speeds included 201 km/h in Galway and 150 km/h in Laois.
The campaign also issued 330 fixed charges for mobile phone use and 85 for seat belt violations.
With 179 traffic fatalities reported in 2025 and heightened risks during the holiday season, authorities urge drivers to remain cautious.
