Forensic Science Ireland reports a surge in synthetic opioid threats, identifying 10 new illicit drugs in 2024, including Protonitazene, a potent opioid stronger than heroin.
Nitazene variants were found in two of Ireland’s and Europe’s largest seizures, including a 1.9kg batch mixed with caffeine and paracetamol.
