India's palm oil imports rose 5% in November 2025 to 632,341 tonnes, driven by lower prices making it more competitive than soyoil and sunflower oil. Refiners increased purchases from Indonesia and Malaysia while cutting soyoil imports by over 18% and sunflower oil by 45%, reaching a two-year low. Total edible oil imports dropped 13.3% month-on-month to 1.15 million tonnes, the lowest in seven months. India imported a record 69,919 tonnes of soyoil from China due to supply gluts and discounts. Palm oil is now $100 cheaper per tonne than soyoil and nearly $200 cheaper than sunflower oil, prompting buyers to shift contracts for December and January shipments. Canola oil imports rose to 5,000 tonnes from the UAE.
